Telangana Tides: A ₹275 Crore Blueprint for Modern Lake Tourism

The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) has proposed the development of 12 boating units across prominent lakes and reservoirs in the state, aiming to enhance tourism and provide improved recreational facilities for visitors.

The projects, spread across multiple districts, are estimated at ₹274.93 crore and will be funded through a mix of state and central government schemes along with public-private partnerships. Key locations identified for these boating facilities include Inyadramma Lake, Buchi Reddy Palem and Madhira in Khammam district, Wyra Lake and Bhadrachalam, Borancha in Medak, Gudi Cheruvu in Sircilla, Kokapet Lake, Kondapochamma Reservoir in Siddipet, the Dhoulatabad and Kodangal regions, Pragathinagar Lake in Kukatpally, and Shamirpet Lake.

During a review meeting chaired by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, with the participation of senior officials and TGTDC Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, progress on the projects was assessed. The Minister instructed officials to expedite execution, prioritize timely completion, and incorporate modern boating technologies while expanding supporting infrastructure.

In addition to boating facilities, the proposals include developing cantilever glass viewpoints at scenic destinations, constructing tourist cottages near the Ramappa Temple, and establishing Hampi-style open-air theatres to promote cultural activities and support local artists.

Overall, the initiative is designed to strengthen tourism infrastructure, boost visitor engagement, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall travel experience across Telangana.
