The final stretch of the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road (SCLR), connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Vakola, is set to open soon, marking a key milestone in Mumbai’s road infrastructure development.
The project is being executed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and will complete a nearly 11-km signal-free corridor linking the Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway via BKC. The BKC–Vakola stretch, though only around 1.4 km long, is critical for integrating multiple elevated sections and connectors, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement across the route. It includes a 500-metre four-lane elevated carriageway along with ramps designed to improve traffic efficiency.
Advanced construction techniques, including the use of heavy-duty cranes and composite girders, have been employed to ensure structural stability and seamless connectivity. Once operational, the corridor is expected to significantly cut travel time between Mumbai’s eastern and western suburbs, reduce congestion, and enhance connectivity across key commercial and residential areas.
