In a bid to accelerate the Amrit Kaal 2047 maritime vision, Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Secretary Vijay Kumar reviewed ongoing infrastructure and operations at the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA).
During his visit, Secretary Kumar pushed for enhanced multimodal logistics, directing officials to study the feasibility of moving cargo via the Gurupura and Nethravati rivers to bolster Karnataka's coastal shipping network. Following a hands-on inspection of the port's automated gates, marine operations, and cargo facilities, he chaired a strategic meeting on business development and digital transformation.
Marking a major milestone, the Secretary also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects valued at ₹105 crore. These initiatives are designed to directly improve port efficiency, regional connectivity, and worker welfare. He concluded by calling for stronger synergy with the state government to develop vital satellite ports.
