The ₹327 Crore Station Glow-Up: Nampally’s Future is Here

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy recently announced that the Central government has launched the redevelopment of Hyderabad’s Nampally railway station with an investment of ₹327 crore, with completion targeted by the end of 2027.

After inspecting the ongoing works, Reddy said the upgraded station would become “another jewel in Hyderabad.” He added that regular monitoring of the project would begin immediately to ensure the work stays on schedule. “We will start counting the days from today for completion of the works by the end of 2027,” he told reporters.

The redevelopment project aims to meet the city’s growing transport demands by transforming the station into a modern, passenger-friendly facility equipped with advanced amenities. Plans include a central hall featuring restaurants and retail stalls, along with improved passenger facilities. The station will also offer Wi-Fi connectivity, CCTV surveillance, and upgraded infrastructure to enhance commuter convenience and safety.

Highlighting broader railway investments in the state, Reddy said more than ₹5,450 crore has been allocated for Telangana in the Union Budget 2026–27 to strengthen railway infrastructure. He added that railway projects worth nearly ₹48,000 crore are currently underway across the state.

The redevelopment of Hyderabad station is part of the government’s broader effort to modernise major railway hubs and develop world-class transport infrastructure in key cities.
