Vizag's Next Big Hub: SEIL's Major Infrastructure Push

Steel Exchange India Ltd (SEIL) has signed a non-binding agreement with Vizag Profiles Logistics (VPL) and Hind Terminals (HTPL) to explore the development of a General Cargo Terminal (GCT) and a Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The initiative aims to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce transit times, and enable scalable cargo handling in the region. A part of the Vizag Profiles Group, SEIL currently operates a steel and power plant in Vizianagaram, near Visakhapatnam. The proposed GCT and MMLP represent a strategic shift as SEIL seeks to diversify beyond steel manufacturing and expand into the infrastructure and logistics sectors.

Calling the collaboration a key step forward, Joint Managing Director Suresh Kumar Bandi emphasized its role in advancing SEIL’s long-term growth strategy. In Q1 FY26, SEIL also secured a ₹210 crore contract from RINL to convert 1.2 lakh tonnes per annum (LTPA) of billets into TMT rebars—highlighting its efforts to pursue growth opportunities both in steel processing and logistics infrastructure.
