The Polavaram Irrigation Project is slated for completion by June 2026, with close to 90% of the work already executed and water storage having reached the minimum drawdown level (MDDL), according to the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
As of October 2025, overall progress stood at 81.45%, reflecting significant physical and financial achievements, the Ministry noted in its 2025–26 annual report. Earthwork has reached 90.2% completion, concrete work 85%, and structural components 55%.
Among key segments, headworks are 81% complete, the Right Main Canal has reached 92% completion, and the Left Main Canal stands at 73%, indicating steady progress toward operational readiness.
Once finished, the multipurpose irrigation project is expected to strengthen water security and provide a major boost to agricultural activity across the region.
