Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract awarded by the Water Resources Department (WRD), Government of Odisha, for the development of lift irrigation infrastructure in the state.
The turnkey EPC contract, valued at approximately Rs 173.82 crore, involves the execution of four lift irrigation schemes with intake points located at Surubali Jore, Harihar Jore and the Mahanadi River. The project includes the construction of a comprehensive irrigation distribution network up to the one-hectare chak level to facilitate efficient and equitable water distribution across the command area.
The schemes, grouped under Cluster-XXIX, are designed to provide irrigation coverage to a cumulative culturable command area (CCA) of 6,710 hectares. The scope of work also encompasses the establishment of power supply connectivity and associated electrical infrastructure required for the operation of pumping systems and reliable water delivery.
Upon completion, the project is expected to enhance irrigation potential, improve agricultural productivity, support crop diversification and contribute to long-term water resource management objectives in the region through the development of modern and efficient irrigation infrastructure.
