Hindustan Zinc Taps L&T for New 250 KTPA Smelter

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a significant contract from Hindustan Zinc for the design, engineering, procurement, and full site execution of a 250,000 tonnes per annum (250 KTPA) integrated zinc smelter unit at Debari in Udaipur district, Rajasthan.

The comprehensive scope of work includes the installation and commissioning of key process facilities such as:

Calcine storage, leaching, purification, and electrowinning systems (Jumbo Cell House)

Supporting auxiliary infrastructure, including:

Utilities, Effluent treatment plant (ETP) with reverse osmosis and zero liquid discharge (RO-ZLD) systems, Plant electrics, instrumentation, and automation solutions

The project is designed to ensure high operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and strict regulatory compliance.

The contract is valued between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore, reflecting L&T’s continued leadership in delivering large-scale industrial and metallurgical projects. Upon completion, the new facility will significantly boost Hindustan Zinc’s refining capacity, reinforcing its position as a market leader in the zinc sector.
