Piping Hot News! PNG Gas Set to Flow to Four Assam Towns

The supply of piped natural gas (PNG) to households in Baihata, Hajo, Sualkuchi, and Rangia is set to commence soon, with pipeline-laying work scheduled to begin in phases from late October.

Purba Bharati Gas Pvt. Ltd. (PBGPL) — a joint venture between Assam Gas Company, Oil India, and GAIL Gas — has informed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about the project’s rollout. The initiative is designed to provide clean, reliable, and continuous cooking gas to households, advancing Assam’s sustainable energy and environmental objectives.

A technical launch event will be held shortly with local representatives and dignitaries, marking the start of on-ground work. A formal inauguration of the domestic piped natural gas (DPNG) service, led by the Chief Minister, will follow upon completion of infrastructure testing and safety validation.
