Max Healthcare's Bold Vision: 9,500 Beds and Beyond

Max Healthcare Institute has announced plans to expand its capacity to 9,500 beds by 2028, nearly doubling from its current base of 5,000 beds in FY25. With an additional 1,000 beds expected to come online within the next 60 days, the expansion will be driven through a mix of brownfield and greenfield projects across key urban centers.

In Q1 FY26, the company reported a robust 27% year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹2,574 crore, supported by a 26% rise in occupied bed days and a solid 76% occupancy rate.

Recent operational highlights include the commissioning of a 160-bed tower at Max Mohali and the leasing of a 130-bed facility in Dehradun. Concurrently, Max Healthcare has divested two smaller hospitals for ₹40 crore as part of its strategy to sharpen focus on high-end, super-specialty care in metro and tier-1 cities.

Chairman Abhay Soi attributed the company’s growth trajectory to increasing demand for quality healthcare, India’s ageing population, and disciplined capacity expansion aligned with strategic market needs.
