A New Era of Energy: PVUNL Unit 1 Goes Commercial

Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) has announced the successful commercial operation (COD) of Unit 1 on November 5, 2025.

This milestone marks a significant step in strengthening Jharkhand’s power infrastructure and advancing India’s energy security goals. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art ultra-supercritical technology, featuring air-cooled condensers to reduce water consumption and 100% dry ash handling systems to ensure efficient ash utilisation.

Prior to commissioning, Unit 1 underwent extensive testing and stabilisation, demonstrating high operational reliability and efficiency.

The declaration ceremony was attended by key PVUNL officials, including CEO A.K. Sehgal and CGM Anupam Mukherjee. PVUNL reaffirmed its commitment to sustained high performance, ensuring a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible power supply for the region.
