Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation has accelerated work on 68 major infrastructure projects with a combined investment of around ₹5,000 crore.
During a high-level review chaired by K Vijayanand, officials stressed the need for timely execution to support industrial expansion and the integration of renewable energy into the grid. Once completed, the projects are expected to add 15,274 MVA of transformation capacity and 1,822 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, strengthening power supply for agricultural, industrial and domestic consumers.
In addition to the initial 68 projects, the state has approved the tendering of 100 more projects across multiple voltage levels to enhance long-term energy security. A major focus is being placed on the Green Energy Corridor initiative, for which proposals worth ₹21,838 crore have been submitted to facilitate large-scale solar and pumped storage power evacuation. AP Transco is also developing extra high-tension infrastructure to support solar photovoltaic manufacturing hubs in Nellore district.
The state is also advancing its energy storage plans after securing 3 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity under a central government scheme. Acting as the nodal agency, AP Transco has initiated competitive bidding for 1,000 MW of standalone storage projects across 10 locations, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key hub for renewable energy manufacturing and grid stability.
