Brookfield Sheds 550 MW Bikaner Solar Portfolio in Rs 2,500 Cr Deal

Inox Clean Energy and Purvah Green Power (the green energy subsidiary of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group's CESC) have emerged as the frontrunners to acquire Brookfield Asset Management’s 550 MW operational renewable energy portfolio in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Valued at approximately Rs 2,500 crore, the portfolio supplies clean electricity to commercial and industrial (C&I) clients under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). Marquee corporate offtakers include Hindustan Unilever and Brookfield Properties. Brookfield is divesting the asset—originally seeded via its first Global Transition Fund with support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC)—as part of a broader capital reshuffle in India.

The potential acquisition highlights an industry-wide shift toward M&A consolidation, allowing domestic energy platforms to rapidly scale their operating portfolios through mature assets rather than relying solely on greenfield development.
