India has commissioned approximately 8,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green hydrogen production capacity as of February 2026, according to information shared in Parliament.
Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the government has set a target of achieving 5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of green hydrogen production annually by 2030, reflecting its push toward clean energy and decarbonisation.
Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, confirmed that the currently commissioned capacity marks an early step toward scaling up domestic green hydrogen production in the coming years.
