RECPDCL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC, has formalised two key agreements to implement 33.26 lakh smart prepaid meters under Phase-II of the RDSS scheme within the Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) jurisdiction.
The PIA and DDF Agreements were signed on July 10, 2025, in Rajkot, Gujarat, paving the way for the deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The project will be executed through the appointment of an AMI Service Provider (AMISP) on a Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOOT) model.
The AMISP contract was awarded to Bharat Grid—a joint venture between Actis and EDF India—marking a significant milestone in the project. The signing event was attended by key dignitaries including K.P. Joshi, IAS, MD-PGVCL; TSC Bosh, CEO-RECPDCL; Saurabh Rastogi, Executive Director-RECPDCL, along with senior officials.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing technical and commercial losses, minimizing downtime, and strengthening consumer engagement—contributing to the broader national goals of power sector modernization and digital transformation.
