POWERGRID Powers Up: Wins Trio of Major Transmission Projects

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has been awarded three inter-state transmission system projects through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process.

The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on March 3, 2025, and will develop the projects under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model.

  • The first project involves the transmission system for Rajasthan REZ Phase-5 (Part-1: 4 GW) [Sirohi/Nagaur] complex. It includes augmentation at the under-construction Sirohi substation and the development of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
  • The second project aims to enhance the transformation capacity at the Banaskantha (Raghanesda) PS (GIS) in Gujarat through ICT augmentation.
  • The third project focuses on integrating Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase-I (4.5 GW). It includes setting up a new 765/400/220 kV pooling substation in Kurnool, augmenting the C’peta substation, and constructing transmission lines across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
