POWERGRID Proposes ₹30.59 Cr Grid Upgrade in Karnataka

POWERGRID, through its subsidiary POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission, has proposed a Rs 30.59 crore transmission upgrade at the Gadag-II pooling station in Karnataka to address rising short-circuit levels as more renewable energy projects connect to the grid.

The project involves installing two 220 kV bus sectionalizers at the existing 400/220 kV pooling station. The upgrade is scheduled for commissioning by August 2027, with an implementation period of 18 months. The improvements are expected to enhance operational flexibility and strengthen the reliability of power transmission.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has initiated public consultation on the proposed amendment to POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission’s existing transmission licence to incorporate the project.
