Bhopal Metro: AIIMS Achieved! City's Reach Extends.

The Bhopal Metro reached a major milestone on March 4, 2025, with its first trial run beyond Habibganj, covering the route from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station to AIIMS Bhopal.

Conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL), the trial utilized the newly constructed railway overbridge (RoB), a vital link between AIIMS Bhopal and Habibganj. A three-coach metro train moved at a controlled speed of 10 to 20 km/h, passing through DRM Office and Alkapuri stations. This marks a significant step in expanding metro connectivity across the city.

Earlier, trial runs were limited to the Habibganj section in 2023. With the completion of the RoB, direct metro connectivity between Rani Kamlapati station and AIIMS Bhopal is now possible. Future trials will gradually increase the train’s speed to its maximum designed limit of 90 km/h. Each metro coach measures approximately 22 meters in length and 2.9 meters in width.
