Bridging Borders: CM Vijay Calls for Regional Infrastructure Push

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has called for enhanced collaboration among southern states to build integrated infrastructure networks, pointing to the proposed Bengaluru Metro extension as a model for regional cooperation.

Speaking at the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting in Kovalam—chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah—CM Vijay advocated for joint economic and logistics hubs equipped with manufacturing zones, shared multimodal logistics parks, and direct corridors linking industrial production centers to ports and international markets. He urged both state administrations and the Union government to accelerate the Bengaluru-Hosur Metro initiative alongside similar cross-border connectivity projects across South India.

Additionally, emphasizing Tamil Nadu's 1,076-kilometer coastline shared with Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Kerala, the Chief Minister confirmed the state's readiness to collaborate on shared maritime development and coastal infrastructure expansion.
