CCEA Approves 8 Multi-Tracking Projects Worth Rs 20,804 Crore

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved eight railway multi-tracking projects worth a combined Rs 20,804 crore across nine states.

The projects will add around 1,196 km to the Indian Railways network, covering key routes across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The first set of five projects, worth Rs 10,021 crore, will add about 540 km across 17 districts, while the second set of three projects, estimated at Rs 10,783 crore, will add approximately 656 km.

Key works include the 77-km Arakkonam–Renigunta third and fourth lines and the 110-km Secunderabad (Ghatkesar)–Kazipet multi-tracking project. Planned under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the projects are aimed at expanding rail capacity, easing congestion, improving train movement and strengthening logistics and multimodal connectivity.
