Kalupur Rising: Ahmedabad's Station Modernization

Kalupur Railway Station in Ahmedabad is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment as part of India’s national station modernisation program.

Currently featuring 10 platforms, the station will gain three additional platforms and a new 16-storey building designed to house a wide range of passenger services and amenities. The redevelopment will seamlessly integrate Kalupur Station with the upcoming Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project, ensuring smooth connectivity between high-speed rail, metro, and BRTS systems, according to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

A new concourse roof plaza will span all platforms, while elevated roads and foot overbridges will enhance passenger movement and citywide access. The project forms part of the government’s broader initiative to modernise more than 1,300 railway stations across India, creating world-class, interconnected transport hubs.
