Rail-Powered Logistics: 118 New Gati Shakti Hubs Open.

Indian Railways has successfully commissioned 118 Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals across 18 states and union territories, exceeding its original FY25 target of 100 terminals.

The initiative aims to enhance freight movement by improving multimodal connectivity and reducing logistics costs. Established under the government’s national infrastructure plan, the Gati Shakti terminals serve as hubs for cargo consolidation and distribution, expanding rail freight access to regions with limited connectivity. These terminals are developed in collaboration with state governments and private partners, with capacities aligned to regional industrial needs.

The Ministry of Railways noted, “Strengthening India’s freight system with 118 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals is reshaping freight movement with seamless multimodal connectivity and lower logistics costs nationwide.” Launched in 2021, the program represents a major step toward modernizing India’s logistics infrastructure.
