The long-pending southern stretch of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) is gaining momentum, with the detailed project report (DPR) currently under preparation.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has confirmed that the proposal for the southern corridor is under active consideration, marking a significant step toward the project’s realization. Telangana’s Minister for Roads & Buildings, Venkat Reddy, welcomed the development, calling the Centre’s positive response a timely boost to the state’s infrastructure plans. He noted that while the northern segment of the RRR has already been approved and is in the tendering stage, progress on the southern stretch strengthens the prospects of completing the full ring road.
The proposed corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion around Hyderabad, drive industrial growth, and support urban expansion. With both northern and southern segments set to integrate, the project is poised to unlock substantial regional development. The state government will continue to work closely with the Centre to expedite execution.
