Land acquisition has been successfully completed at Phataha in the Katkamdag block of Jharkhand for the upcoming six-lane Varanasi-Kolkata Greenfield Expressway, and construction work is already underway under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
The district administration has acquired approximately 733 acres across 26 villages for the project. Around 48 km of the multi-state, access-controlled expressway will pass through Hazaribag, entering via Chatra and extending toward Ramgarh and West Bengal.
Connecting Varanasi and Kolkata through Bihar and Jharkhand, this major infrastructure project will significantly improve passenger and freight movement across key industrial and commercial hubs, ultimately boosting regional logistics, trade, and economic growth.
