Highways to High Seas: Tamil Nadu’s Bold 200-km Coastal Vision

Tamil Nadu is gearing up for a major transformation in coastal and urban mobility! The state is pushing forward with an ambitious 200-kilometer sea-link corridor linking Ennore, Mamallapuram, and Puducherry.

Designed to slash travel times, boost regional tourism, and link key industrial ports, the project will also look into launching coastal commuter ferries. While initial planning began in 2025–26, authorities are now fast-tracking its development. Complementing this coastal vision, a new elevated corridor between Santhome and Adyar is also in the pipeline to ease urban congestion in Chennai.
