NHPC has achieved a key clean energy milestone with the full commissioning of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The company received the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion on October 10, 2025, for the fifth and final phase of the project, adding 85.72 MW. With this, the entire plant has reached its Commercial Operation Date (COD) stage.
Developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,732 crore, the project will supply renewable power under a 25-year Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), pending final approvals from PSPCL and the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC).
Once fully operational, the plant will contribute significantly to the national grid, advancing India’s renewable energy targets. This commissioning also underscores NHPC’s expanding footprint in solar energy and supports Punjab’s long-term energy security through sustainable power generation.
