The Rajasthan government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has approved land allocation to Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for the development of large-scale renewable energy parks in Jaisalmer and Bikaner.
This transformative initiative includes solar power projects with a combined capacity of 31,600 MW—26,400 MW in Jaisalmer and 5,200 MW in Bikaner—making it one of the largest such undertakings in the country. The move aligns with Rajasthan’s sustainable development goals and reinforces India’s national commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure.
Officials stated that the projects will firmly establish Rajasthan as a renewable energy leader, while generating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for local youth. In addition to job creation, the initiative is expected to drive regional economic growth through infrastructure development and increased green industry investment.
Chief Minister Sharma highlighted that these projects will not only enhance the state's renewable energy capacity and strengthen energy security, but also play a crucial role in supporting India’s clean energy transition. The decision reinforces Rajasthan’s growing leadership in the national renewable energy landscape.
