Shree Cement Limited, one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, has inaugurated a 20 MWp solar power plant in Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh.
The facility will supply renewable power to the company’s Etah grinding unit through the wheeling and banking mechanism. Following verification by the Uttar Pradesh State Load Despatch Centre (UPSLDC), the project has achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD). It is expected to offset approximately 22,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, supporting India’s clean energy transition. Phase 2 of the project is scheduled for commissioning by the end of Q4 FY26.
The initiative also provides 30–40 daily employment opportunities in the region. Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and a low-carbon future, noting that the solar plant represents a key step toward greener manufacturing operations.
