Arvind Weaves a Greener Future in Gujarat

Arvind, a leading textile manufacturer based in Ahmedabad, has unveiled plans to set up a state-of-the-art textile facility in Gujarat, dedicated to producing cotton woven and knit fabrics. The new plant is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 93% and save 60 litres of water per kilogram of fabric produced.

This project is part of the “Future Forward Factories India” programme, developed in collaboration with Fashion for Good. Arvind will contribute to creating an open-source, modular blueprint for sustainable tier-2 textile manufacturing—serving as a scalable model for the broader industry.

A first-of-its-kind demonstration facility will bring this blueprint to life, showcasing innovative, environmentally conscious manufacturing in action. Arvind describes the initiative as turning innovation "from concept to reality," emphasizing its commitment to both environmental impact and commercial viability.

The long-term success of the project may hinge on viability gap funding from industry stakeholders to support the integration of advanced, cost-intensive innovations.
