Adani Power has won a 25-year contract to supply 1,500 MW of electricity to Uttar Pradesh at a tariff of ₹5.383 per unit (kWh). The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a power purchase agreement (PPA) between Adani Power and the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the long-term supply of thermal power.
The electricity will be generated from a new 1,600 MW (2x800 MW) thermal power plant that Adani Power will build within the state. The contract follows a competitive bidding process initiated by the state government in October 2024 to address growing power demand. Adani Power emerged as the lowest bidder, offering ₹3.727 per unit as fixed charges and ₹1.656 per unit as fuel charges.
This agreement is a key step toward meeting the state's projected additional demand of 10,795 MW by FY 2033–34, and supports Uttar Pradesh’s broader strategy for energy security, infrastructure development, and industrial growth.
