GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) has commissioned Cargo Terminal 2 at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, strengthening Hyderabad’s position as a major global air cargo and logistics hub.
The newly developed cargo facility has been designed to cater to growing domestic and international freight demand while providing advanced infrastructure for airlines, freight forwarders, logistics companies, and regulatory authorities.
Spread across 16,864 square metres, the terminal has an initial cargo handling capacity of approximately 50,000 tonnes annually, with scalability to expand capacity up to 100,000 tonnes in the future. The facility includes dedicated inbound and outbound cargo areas, large import and export processing zones, multi-level racking systems for efficient storage management, and streamlined shipment build-up and breakdown areas to support parallel cargo processing.
A major feature of the terminal is its fully temperature-controlled pharmaceutical handling zone, equipped with advanced monitoring and cold-chain infrastructure for the safe movement of pharmaceutical and perishable cargo.
According to GHIAL, the commissioning of Cargo Terminal 2 is expected to improve logistics efficiency, facilitate trade growth, and support the airport’s long-term vision of building a world-class cargo infrastructure ecosystem.
