The Andhra Pradesh government has entered into a ₹515-crore agreement with a ThunderPlus-led consortium to establish a state-wide multi-modal electric vehicle (EV) mobility and charging ecosystem.
Signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board during the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam on 18 November 2025, the MoU aims to accelerate clean transportation while generating more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in fleet operations, charging management, and related services. ThunderPlus will deploy a robust charging network, including ultra-fast charging stations across major highways and key urban centres.
The project’s first phase will focus on Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and adjacent regions. It will also incorporate EV manufacturing, city mobility solutions, and a unified digital ticketing system developed by Roqit. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has committed to expedited approvals to ensure swift implementation. ThunderPlus CEO Rajeev YSR described the collaboration as a defining move toward transforming Andhra Pradesh into India’s clean-mobility hub.
