Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup JSC is fast-tracking its expansion into India across key sectors including smart cities, green energy, hospitality, healthcare, and electric mobility.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, outlined the group’s ambitious vision:
“Our chairman’s vision is to make India the second Vietnam, meaning we aim to bring the entire Vingroup ecosystem to India. This includes developing smart cities, each requiring at least 2,000 acres, and advancing green energy projects through VinEnergo, similar to our ongoing operations in the Philippines and Indonesia, where we have a 4,000 MW portfolio.”
Vingroup is also in active discussions with multiple state governments to establish resorts and hospitals across the country, strengthening its footprint in the hospitality and healthcare sectors.
In the automotive segment, following the rollout of electric cars, Vingroup’s EV arm VinFast plans to launch electric two-wheelers and e-buses starting next year, with a new EV model introduced every six months. The company has already set up a manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with a current annual capacity of 50,000 electric cars, which is projected to scale up to 1.5 lakh units in phase two.
VinFast is also localizing production for right-hand drive electric buses to meet Indian market requirements, as part of its broader goal to support India's clean mobility transition.
This multi-sector strategy underlines Vingroup’s long-term commitment to becoming a major player in India’s infrastructure, renewable energy, and electric vehicle ecosystems.
