Ford has reaffirmed its plan to revive its manufacturing plant in Maraimalai Nagar, Tamil Nadu, despite ongoing discussions regarding tariff-related issues under the new administration.
In September 2024, the US automaker announced its intention to restart production at the Chennai facility, two years after its exit from the Indian market. A letter of intent (LoI) was submitted to the Tamil Nadu government, outlining a strategy focused on export-driven manufacturing.
