Hyundai Motor Breaks Ground on Hydrogen Innovation Centre in Tamil Nadu

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has laid the foundation stone for its new Hydrogen Innovation Centre at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024 in Chennai. The centre is being developed in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM), and Guidance Tamil Nadu, with strong support from the state government.

With an investment of ₹180 crore, Hyundai aims to advance hydrogen technology for mass mobility solutions, aligning with its global vision of "Progress for Humanity." The 65,000 sq. ft. facility will be located within the IIT Madras, Thaiyur campus, on the outskirts of Chennai.

The centre will play a pivotal role in developing a robust hydrogen ecosystem, driving innovation in alternative fuels and reducing the state's carbon footprint. This initiative is also expected to bolster Tamil Nadu’s position as a hub for innovation and create a skilled workforce for the growing hydrogen economy.

Hyundai's investment marks a significant step towards sustainable transportation in India, furthering the state's commitment to green energy solutions.
