Oriana Power, a leader in commercial and industrial solar manufacturing, is set to establish a gigawatt-scale factory in India to produce alkaline electrolysers and balance of plant (BOP) modules. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing local manufacturing capabilities in critical renewable energy technology.
The planned investment for the factory ranges between $25-35 million, reflecting Oriana Power's commitment to transitioning to clean energy and reducing reliance on imports. By producing these essential components locally, the company aims to support India's renewable energy goals and boost the domestic manufacturing sector.
The gigafactory will be developed in two phases. The first phase, with an annual capacity of 500 MW for electrolyser production, is slated to become operational in 2026. This phased approach ensures a steady ramp-up in production capacity, aligning with market demand and technological advancements.
Oriana Power is partnering with Splitwaters, a US-based firm renowned for its cutting-edge alkaline electrolyser and BOP equipment. Splitwaters’ innovative one-stop-shop model and modular technology effectively address the challenges of high initial capital costs and lengthy execution timelines, making the project more feasible and efficient.
This strategic collaboration and investment underscore Oriana Power's dedication to advancing renewable energy infrastructure in India, paving the way for a sustainable and self-reliant energy future.
