To enhance tourism and infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh government will build six large entry gate complexes in Ayodhya, named after Ram, Laxman, Bharat, Hanuman, Garuda, and Jatayu. These ‘gate complexes’ will serve as major entry points and house extensive tourist facilities including budget hotels, guest houses, tourist centres, tourism offices, and cultural amenities.
Each complex will include art and craft galleries, food courts, cafeterias, amphitheatres, multi-level parking, green areas, EV charging stations, toilet blocks, CNG pumps, and its own sewage treatment plant. These facilities are intended to create a comprehensive tourism experience. Among them, the Jatayu Gate complex will have the largest tourist facilitation centre (TFC), to be located on Ambedkar Nagar Road and spread across 5.76 hectares.
Shri Ram Gate, planned on the Lucknow-Ayodhya Road, will have a TFC over 4.91 hectares. Lakshman Gate will be developed on the Gonda-Ayodhya Road across 4.5 hectares, while Bharat Gate will be on Sultanpur Road with a 2.04-hectare facility. Hanuman Gate, located on Gorakhpur Road, will span 3.59 hectares, and Garuda Gate on the Raebareli-Ayodhya Road will cover 4.98 hectares.
According to the Uttar Pradesh tourism department, “Jatayu Gate will have the largest tourist facilitation centre out of the six.” Each of these centres is expected to feature accommodations ranging from two-star to three-star, creating a blend of affordability and comfort for visitors. The project aims to provide seamless entry and quality hospitality for pilgrims and tourists, making Ayodhya a more attractive destination with well-integrated facilities.
