Construction of the Anandpuri drain project in Patna has commenced to address chronic monsoon waterlogging and improve traffic movement. The ₹86-crore project spans 2.61 km and will transform the existing stretch into a modern covered drain accompanied by a four-lane road. Once completed, it is expected to benefit nearly 1.5 lakh residents in Anandpuri, Shivpuri, Patel Nagar, and parts of Wards 7, 8, 22, and 23.
The upgraded drainage system will enhance rainwater management by channeling excess water to the Rajapur Pul drainage pumping station. The current 12-ft-wide road along the drain—now in poor condition—will be rebuilt with improved infrastructure, including new street lighting and beautification elements.
According to BUIDCO officials, mud clearing has been finished, and boundary wall construction is in progress. The project is scheduled for completion by July 2027.
