Karnataka Bags Rs 22,000 Crore Deals, Web Werks to Build Mega Data Hub

The Karnataka government has successfully concluded business and technology agreements totaling Rs 22,000 crore with seven prominent companies during the second day of the 2024 World Economic Forum at Davos. One significant partnership involves Web Werks, a data center solutions provider, which inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government for the establishment of a cutting-edge data center park. With an investment outlay of Rs 20,000 crore, Web Werks aims to create a connectivity hub featuring hyper-scaler data center capabilities within the city.

Hitachi, another key player, has committed to an MoU focused on economic development through initiatives in the rural sector, healthcare, education, and panchayat e-governance. This collaborative effort is anticipated to generate new opportunities for the people of the state, with Hitachi planning to initiate M-Star Telemedicine Deployment through its Hitachi MGRM Net platform.

Furthermore, Microsoft has entered into an MoU with the Karnataka government, emphasizing skilling and governance initiatives. As part of Microsoft's digital skilling program, Microsoft RISE, the company proposes to implement a digital skilling initiative aimed at enhancing livelihood opportunities for under-served youth in India. The initiative will specifically target job seekers, nano entrepreneurs, and individuals in regions with low workforce participation, including aspirational districts, remote areas, and tribal communities.

In addition to these significant agreements, four other companies have also signed MoUs with the state, collectively valued at over Rs 2,000 crore. The Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, led a high-powered delegation that engaged in discussions with top executives from Volvo Group, Nestle, Sony, Inox Group, Lulu Group, Honeywell, Takeda Pharma, and other prominent organizations.
