Suzlon to Develop India's Largest Wind Farm in Gujarat

Suzlon Group has secured a contract from KP Group for the development of a 193.2-MW wind energy project in Gujarat, India.

This new project is part of a comprehensive wind-solar hybrid initiative and aligns with the state transmission utility's (STU's) tariff-based program aimed at augmenting the contribution of renewable energy (RE) in Gujarat. Suzlon Group will supply 92 units of its S120-2.1 MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) featuring a 140-meter hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower at the project sites in Vagra and Vilayat, located in the Bharuch district of Gujarat.

The scope of Suzlon's involvement encompasses the entire project life cycle, including equipment supply, supervision, commissioning, and post-commissioning operation and maintenance services. Notably, this contract marks a repeat engagement with the KP Group. The clean, green, renewable power generated from this wind energy project will cater to the needs of commercial and industrial consumer segments, as well as the local residents of Gujarat.

With the potential to provide electricity to approximately 1.25 lakh households, this sizable project is expected to mitigate 4.96 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The initiative is in line with KP Group's overarching objective to unlock India's renewable energy potential and effectively power the commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.
