BWH Hotels Sets Sights on South Asia: 51 Hotels by 2024

BWH Hotels, a prominent player in the mid-market hotel industry, managing renowned brands such as Best Western Hotels & Resorts and SureStay Hotels, is embarking on an ambitious expansion initiative in the dynamic south-Asian region, with a particular focus on India. Spearheading this growth strategy is its franchisee, Sorrel Hospitality, based in Delhi. The strategic plan involves fortifying its footprint in key areas, extending beyond India to include Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. By the culmination of 2024, the collective effort is projected to bring the total count to 51 hotels, offering a combined capacity of 3,000 rooms.

A noteworthy aspect of this expansion entails the addition of six new hotels to the Indian market. While BWH Hotels already boasts a robust presence in Punjab, particularly in Amritsar with eight properties, the company aims to diversify its reach by targeting locations along highways throughout India. Anticipating a more pronounced growth trajectory in tier-II and tier-III cities, the company envisions supporting this expansion through greenfield developments.

Key factors driving this strategy include the burgeoning infrastructure, an increasing number of airports, and the growth of communities in secondary and tertiary markets, complemented by a well-connected highway system. BWH Hotels is strategically positioning itself to leverage these evolving dynamics for sustained growth.

Currently, BWH Hotels operates 27 hotels in India, contributing to its global portfolio of 4,300 hotels across the world. The company takes pride in offering a diverse range of 19 brands globally, with five of these brands establishing their presence in the dynamic Indian market. BWH Hotels employs various formats, including franchising and hotel management contracts, to facilitate its expansive and diversified operations.
