The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has received 13 new applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods, with proposed investments totaling ₹1,914 crore.
The applications, spread across six states, focus on manufacturing components for air conditioners and LED lighting. Of these, nine companies have committed ₹1,816 crore for producing AC components such as compressors, motors, and heat exchangers, while four applicants plan to invest ₹98 crore in LED component manufacturing, including chips and drivers.
Since its launch in April 2021, the white goods PLI scheme has attracted over ₹10,000 crore in investments and is expected to create nearly 60,000 direct jobs. The initiative aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and position India as a global hub for AC and LED component production.
