The Future is Spherical: REL Launches in Jharsuguda

Runaya Metsource, in partnership with Germany-based ECKART, has launched its joint venture, Runaya Eckart Aluminium Powders (REL), in Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The facility marks the establishment of India’s first manufacturing plant for green, spherical gas-atomised aluminium powders. It will produce high-precision aluminium powders for use in aviation, aerotechnology, process catalysts, and effect pigments, which are essential for creating shimmer, sparkle, and colour-shifting effects in various products. The REL plant employs an advanced atomisation process that involves atomising molten aluminium under high temperature and pressure to produce uniform, spherical powders with a mean particle size of around one micron. The powders can be customised to meet specific customer requirements.

In addition to its core offerings, the facility plans to manufacture specialised aluminium powders for emerging high-tech applications such as aerospace components, solar pastes for silicon solar cells, and refractory materials. The joint venture combines ECKART’s global leadership in aluminium powder technology with Runaya’s expertise in low-carbon, waste-to-wealth manufacturing solutions.
