Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a major expansion of its data center operations in Hyderabad, further solidifying the city’s role as a pivotal hub for cloud technology. The news follows a meeting between AWS senior leadership, led by Kerry Person, Vice President of AWS Data Centre Planning and Delivery, and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, during Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent U.S. tour.
Hyderabad, already a key location for AWS, will see the addition of new hyperscale data centers designed to support advanced AI and machine learning services. This expansion underscores AWS’s commitment to growing its cloud infrastructure and enhancing its service offerings in India.
Kerry Person highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion: “We’re thrilled to expand our cloud infrastructure in Hyderabad. This initiative is crucial for AWS’s growth in India and will significantly contribute to our AI and cloud services. We are dedicated to supporting Telangana’s digital goals and advancing India’s trillion-dollar digital economy.”
The expanded facilities will bolster AWS’s capabilities across a range of cloud services, including computing, storage, databases, networking, machine learning, analytics, and AI, enhancing the company’s footprint in the region.
