GPT Infraprojects Launches Advanced Steel Girder Plant Near Kolkata

GPT Infraprojects has officially commissioned its new steel girder and components manufacturing facility at Village Majinan, PS Gurap, in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, on April 24, 2025.

Situated approximately 60 km from Kolkata, the plant begins operations with an initial installed capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). The company is currently pursuing RDSO approval to manufacture steel bridge girders at this site.

With infrastructure already in place to support future growth, GPT plans to scale up production capacity to 25,000 MTPA within the next two years. This expansion reflects the company’s long-term vision and commitment to strengthening its in-house manufacturing capabilities.

As the flagship company of the Kolkata-based GPT Group, GPT Infraprojects has been a key player in the infrastructure sector since its establishment in 1980. The commissioning of this facility marks a significant strategic milestone, enhancing the company's ability to support national infrastructure development, particularly in the rail and road transport sectors.
