Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced a significant collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Banas Dairy to launch a biogas production plant in Gujarat. This strategic partnership, formalized on July 26, 2024, at Banas Dairy's Sanadar plant in Banaskantha, represents a step forward in sustainable energy and rural mobility. The event was marked by the presence of approximately 2,500 local dairy farmers, underscoring the community's engagement in the initiative.
The agreement focuses on establishing four biogas plants in the Tharad region of Banaskantha district. These facilities will convert methane from biogas into fuel suitable for automobiles, enhancing the region's energy sustainability. The biogas project is part of Suzuki's broader vision to integrate renewable energy solutions with rural development.
Additionally, the project will promote rural mobility by offering clean and affordable transportation options. Maruti Suzuki will utilize biogas fuel in its CNG vehicles, with the service initially rolling out within the district. This initiative aims to provide an eco-friendly alternative for rural transportation, benefiting local communities and supporting sustainable development goals.
