RPSG Group’s ₹15,800 Cr Mega-Investment in West Bengal

Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman of the RP–Sanjiv Goenka Group, has announced a capital expenditure plan of ₹15,800 crore to strengthen infrastructure development in West Bengal.

A major portion of the investment includes a ₹12,000 crore energy project to set up a 5,000 MWh energy storage facility, a move that could make Kolkata one of the first cities in India to source nearly 50 percent of its power from renewable energy. Goenka credited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for creating an investor-friendly environment, noting that the Group has already invested ₹26,500 crore in the state during her tenure.

In addition, around ₹1,000 crore will be invested in education and healthcare infrastructure. The education segment will receive ₹500 crore to double existing capacity, while a state-of-the-art hospital is planned to be operational by January 2027, with the aim of becoming one of the country’s leading healthcare facilities.
