The Government of Maharashtra has approved the transfer of three land parcels measuring a combined 52,851 square metres to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for the ongoing Mula-Mutha Riverfront Development Project.
The decision was cleared during a state cabinet meeting and is expected to support faster execution of Pune’s river rejuvenation and urban infrastructure initiative. The transferred land includes an 11,015 sq. mtrs. stretch between Sangamwadi Bridge and Bund Garden Bridge, a 34,128 sq. mtrs. parcel at Mundhwa Botanical Garden, and a 7,700 sq. mtrs. plot in Mundhwa owned by the Women and Child Welfare Department.
Civic officials said the transfer would help improve river conservation efforts, beautification works, and public infrastructure development along the riverbanks.
Mayor Manjusha Nagpure welcomed the decision, while Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale said the move would accelerate the pace of the project. The Standing Committee has also approved plans to extend the riverfront development from Mundhwa to Manjari, along with proposals related to waste management and conservation of heritage water supply infrastructure.
