Power Mech Wins Big in Bengal: ₹3,126 Cr for BESS!

Power Mech Projects, through its wholly owned subsidiary PM Green, has secured a significant order from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) for the development of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The contract entails setting up a 250 MW/1,000 MWh standalone BESS at Goaltore in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, under a build-own-operate (BOO) model. It also includes a greenshoe option for an additional 250 MW/1,000 MWh BESS at the Durgapur Project Limited (DPL) campus in Durgapur. The scope of work covers the complete lifecycle of the projects, including design, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance at both sites. The total contract value, including the greenshoe option, stands at ₹3,126 crore (excluding GST).

The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months from the date of signing the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA), followed by an operation and maintenance period of 15 years.
