DFCCIL Reaches Milestone 1,176 km of Western DFC Completed

On December 8, 2023, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced significant progress in the construction of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), revealing that 1,176 km of the planned 1,506 km had been successfully completed.

Stretching from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal to Dadri, this transformative DFC traverses key regions including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banas Kantha, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, and Navsari districts in Gujarat.

The primary objectives of the DFC include fostering industrial growth within the region by capitalizing on the development of industrial corridors, townships, state-of-the-art freight terminals, multimodal cargo terminals, multimodal logistic parks, and inland container depots across the state.

Minister Vaishnaw highlighted in the Rajya Sabha that the enhanced and expedited connectivity between the western ports and inland industries will play a pivotal role in minimizing transit time and logistic expenses for the benefit of customers and stakeholders alike.
